Julius (USA) is an interdisciplinary filmmaker.

Julius’s work is centered on a critical understanding of hope. While impulsively cinematic, it embraces physical non-sequitur. Julius’s practice involves the use of filmmaking signifiers, including props, costumes and sets, to incite an affect of anticipatory illumination. These means also serve as the ends of the work. Alone, objects and films act as vestiges or traces; together, they act as holistic projections. Tactics towards empathy, joy, futurity, and world-building are frequently employed in Julius’s work.

Screenings include the Ann Arbor Film Festival, Chicago International Film Festival and MINT Rotterdam. Previous group exhibitions include the David Winton Bell Gallery (Providence, RI), Murmurs Gallery (Los Angeles, CA), the Chicago Lake FX Summit (Chicago, IL), Yellow Peril Gallery (Olneyville, RI), and ArtCenter DTLA (Los Angeles, CA). In 2019, Julius had a solo exhibition at the Launch Pad Gallery (Yokohama, Japan) following a month of performances in Les mains sans sommeil at the Hermès Le Forum (Tokyo, Japan). Julius is the recipient of several Creative Arts Council Grants and a Resolution Filmmaker Grant.
